Getting to Know....(11/20/09)
Bio: I was initially enthralled with the drums. I sold out to the idea of playing them after experiencing my very first REAL concert, "Motley Crue" on their "Theatre of Pain" tour. Tommy Lee was my god of groove! After several years of dedicated practice, my love for the instrument had not waned (and has not to this day), but my interest in writing songs and getting out what was up in my head took over my attention. And sometimes I could hear things people would play and they wouldn?t sound quite right to me, and I wanted to know what those things were. A cheap guitar and many hours in front of the stereo later, I really got my chops together. I was blessed with good pitch, a good ear, and a good music theory guru for a friend. Which certainly helped. After more time passed though, it became obvious that I would never find a singer that sounded like the guys I loved to hear. So I decided to become that singer. A few more years of hard work developing my voice and I became much better known for my voice than for my playing of any instrument.

Influences: (Drums) Tommy Lee, Tommy Aldridge, Robert Sweet (Guitar) Warren DeMartini, John Sykes, Jake E. Lee (Vocal) Lou Grahm, Paul Rodgers, David Coverdale

Favorite DL songs to play live: Cool From the Wire; Nobody Rides For Free; Oh,Ruby

Best moments with DL: Playing the Warner Theater and feeling the energy of the fans when the band was nailing it! Partying on the bus.

Favorite DL songs: Cool; Nobody Rides; Slammin' to the Big Beat; Only Tomorrow; Liquid Crush; Five Easy Pieces; The Last Forever

Other interests: History, Politics, filling my brain with all of the info I can.

Professional Philosophy: Act like you?ve been there! Then kick their ass!

Favorite TV shows: House, NCIS, CSI, Criminal minds, Family Guy

Little known fact: I sing in karaoke contests. If you win, it seems like easy money. If you don?t, you still get to sing in front of a room full of people that would probably have never heard of you or seen your band, and you can promote your projects. My bands have gotten plenty of interest this way. I just won a contest that earned me $500, a new computer, and some studio time. You can?t beat that! Just note that I haven?t won, many more times than I have?. If there is a big advantage to my experience, I?ve sure had a tough time capitalizing on it. Often times, the judges are NOT singers!
